 Children's Climate Concert

Be uplifted by 120 young people!
Over
120 children from four schools have been involved in three workshops to
share their climate concerns through the expressive power of music and
sound, working towards this final concert. Come and support their
efforts. Tickets are free, but you'll need to book one of two
performances by following the link below.
Wild About Devon in South Molton

Join
Wild About Devon and the North Devon Biosphere team for a day of
inspiration, connection, and hands-on nature engagement. This summer
forum will showcase community-led action for wildlife, featuring visits
to a community garden and woodland, insightful talks, and networking
with professionals and volunteers passionate about nature.
The
day will include guided visits to local green spaces, offering a chance
to see community nature projects in action. Attendees will hear talks
on the impactful work taking place in and around South Molton. There
will be opportunities to network with groups such as ECOLINKS, Biosphere
community animators, and members of the town council, who were recently
recognised in the Wild About Devon Awards.
Have Your Say: North Devon’s Air Quality Strategy
North
Devon Council is inviting residents, businesses, and community groups
to help shape its new Air Quality Strategy, open for consultation until Monday 21 July 2025.
Following the revocation of the district’s Air Quality Management Area
due to sustained improvements, the council is now focused on maintaining
and enhancing air quality through a forward-looking strategy.
The
draft covers key themes including transport, domestic burning,
industrial emissions, and indoor air quality. Councillor Ricky Knight
emphasises the importance of local voices in ensuring the strategy
reflects real community priorities.

Buckfastleigh Water Day

the community for a free, family-friendly celebration of the River Dart
and Buckfastleigh’s local water systems! Enjoy a day packed with
water-themed art, educational games, river play, and interactive
exhibits—including a VR rainforest experience.
There’ll be music from Men Behaving Tradly,
a bouncy castle, fire engine visit, and plenty of food and refreshments
from The Tea Hut, The Garden Box, and an ice cream van. Learn about
flood risk, local water history, and what’s happening in your catchment
area.

Exmouth Festival 2025

This year’s Exmouth Festival is greener than ever! With the theme “Stories from the Sea”,
the festival blends vibrant music, theatre, dance, and art with a
strong commitment to sustainability. From reusable cups and compost loos
to plant-based menus and renewable energy, every detail is designed to
reduce environmental impact.
Explore
the Eco Area in Manor Gardens (12–13 July) for interactive displays,
eco games, free plants, clothes swaps, and more. The festival also
promotes active travel, with a Cycle Hub in The Strand and easy access
by train, bus, bike, or foot.
Salmon Run 2025
📅 Saturday 20 September 📍 Exe Valley, Devon
Celebrate
the incredible journey of the endangered Atlantic salmon with Salmon
Run 2025—a unique one-day event combining sport, community, and
environmental awareness. Whether you're up for the full 50-mile ultra
from Exmouth to Dulverton or prefer a shorter relay leg, there’s a way
for everyone to get involved.
This year’s event features:
- 🏃♀️ Ultra & Relay Runs along the River Exe
- 🎨 The Gathering at Sideshore, Exmouth: creative workshops, games, and talks (9:30–1pm)
- 🌳 Opportunities to plant trees with Westcountry Rivers Trust this winter
- 🐟 A celebration of salmon as a keystone species and symbol of river health

Great British Energy Community Fund – South West
The Great
British Energy Community Fund is now open for applications in the South
West, with a total allocation of £1 million for 2025/26. This fund
supports the development of community-owned renewable and low-carbon
energy projects that benefit local people and the environment.
Funding Amount:
- Up to £40,000 for feasibility studies (Stage 1)
- Up to £100,000 for project development (Stage 2)
Eligibility: Open to a wide range of not-for-profit organisations. Focus Areas:
- Increase community and locally-owned renewable energy assets
- Reduce energy costs or generate income for communities
- Create local jobs and volunteering opportunities
Application Deadline: 7th July 2025
Naturesave Trust Environmental Grants
The
Naturesave Trust is offering funding to support small-scale, UK-based
environmental projects that promote nature conservation or sustainable
communities. This grant is ideal for grassroots organisations looking to
make a tangible impact in their local area.
Funding Amount: Up to £5,000 per project. Eligibility: Open to charities, community groups, CICs, social enterprises, and businesses based in the UK. Focus Areas: Projects must align with the current funding window’s theme and contribute to:
- Nature conservation
- Sustainable community initiatives
Application Deadline: 10th July 2025
Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest 2025
Now
in its 24th year, the Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest is offering
funding to support local voluntary and community organisations across
the South of England. With a total fund of £60,000, this initiative aims
to strengthen communities by supporting grassroots projects that make a
real difference.
Funding Amount: Grants between£300 and £3,000 per project. Eligibility: Open
to voluntary and community organisations operating in Hall &
Woodhouse’s trading area—from Devon to Sussex, and Bristol to
Twickenham. Focus Areas: Funding can support conservation and environmental projects. Application Deadline: 13th July 2025
Big Bike Revival – Summer 2025
Cycling
UK is inviting applications from community-based organisations to
become delivery partners for the Big Bike Revival programme. This
initiative supports adults in England to start or return to cycling
through a series of inclusive, local events.
Funding Amount: Up to £3,500 per application. Eligibility: Open
to volunteer-led groups, social enterprises, not-for-profits,
independent bike shops, and Cycling UK Community Cycle Clubs based
in England (excluding London). Focus Areas: Delivery partners must run events based on the FIX-LEARN-RIDE model:
- Fix: Basic bike repairs and safety checks
- Learn: Cycle skills and maintenance training
- Ride: Led rides to build confidence and promote local cycling
Application Deadline: 14th July 2025
Linder Foundation Grants
The Linder
Foundation provides targeted funding to UK-registered charities for
projects that support environmental sustainability and improve outcomes
for vulnerable young people. The foundation prioritises early
intervention and rehabilitation efforts.
Funding Amount: Average grant: £15,000. Eligibility: Open to UK-registered charities and exempt charities. Focus Areas:
- Environment: Land-based projects promoting biodiversity, sustainable farming, or species preservation/reintroduction.
Application Process:
- Submit an Expression of Interest.
- If shortlisted, you’ll be invited to submit a full application.
- Applications are reviewed at trustee meetings in March, July, and December.
Fisheries and Seafood Scheme
The Fisheries
and Seafood Scheme (FaSS), delivered by the Marine Management
Organisation (MMO) on behalf of Defra, is now open for applications.
This scheme supports the development of England’s seafood sector and the
conservation of the marine environment.
Funding Amount: Varies depending on the size and type of project. Eligibility: Open to:
- Individuals or businesses in commercial/recreational sea fishing, aquaculture, or processing
- Public bodies or local authorities in fishing/aquaculture communities
- Universities or research institutes
- New entrants or unemployed individuals seeking skills in the sector
Focus Areas: Projects must contribute to one or more of the following:
- Sustainability and resilience of the seafood sector
- Boosting demand for English seafood
- Enhancing marine environmental status
- Supporting net-zero goals through emissions reduction
- Promoting co-design and co-management in fisheries
Application Deadline: Rolling basis – apply as soon as possible. The scheme will close once all funding is allocated.
National Lottery Awards for All: Environment
The National
Lottery Awards for All – Environment programme is now open for
applications. This funding supports community-led projects that help
people connect with nature and make a positive environmental impact in
their local area.
Funding Amount: Grants from £300 to £20,000 for projects lasting up to two years. Eligibility: Open to:
- Charities, voluntary and community organisations
- Not-for-profit companies, CIOs, CICs, CBSs
- Statutory bodies (including local authorities)
- Schools (only if the project benefits the wider community)
Focus Areas: Projects must aim to:
- Help people connect with and care for nature
- Improve local environments
Application Deadline: 17th December 2025
