£3.15 Million Boost for Active Travel in ExmouthDevon County Council has approved a £3.15 million investment to enhance walking and cycling infrastructure around Dinan Way in Exmouth. The upgrades include new crossings, widened footways, and shared-use paths connecting schools, bus stops, the Exe Estuary Trail, and the town centre. Supported by local councils and shaped by public consultation, the improvements aim to make active travel safer and more accessible, especially for schoolchildren and commuters.

Carbon Action Fund – Grants for Community Decarbonisation Projects
East Devon District Council will be reopening the Carbon Action Fund in Autumn 2025, offering grants to help community organisations and businesses lower their carbon footprint and save on energy costs.
💡 What’s available?
- Up to £124,000 in total funding
- Grants for solar panels, heat pumps, LED lighting, EV chargers, and other retrofit measures
- 50% of funding is ringfenced for community organisations
📊 Last year, the fund awarded 28 grants worth over £585,000, with 16 community groups receiving over £300,000 for projects ranging from £3,000 to £43,000.

Wild About Devon – Grants for Community Nature Projects
Do you have a vision for a wilder, greener Devon? The Wild About Devon Community Wildlife Grant Scheme 2025 is now open for applications!
🌿 Grants of up to £300 are available to support community-led wildlife projects that enhance biodiversity and connect people with nature. This could include:
- Creating or improving wildlife habitats
- Running educational nature events
- Installing wildlife-friendly features like ponds, bird boxes, or wildflower areas
Eligible applicants include parish councils, community groups, schools, and other not-for-profit organisations.

South West Water: Better Futures Fund
South West Water has launched the Better Futures Fund, offering grants between £2,000 and £15,000 to support community projects across its supply area. The fund backs initiatives that promote:
- Nature and the environment – protecting and enhancing natural spaces for community wellbeing
- Education – creating opportunities for learning and development
- Community – fostering connection and purpose among local groups
- Vulnerability – supporting people who need extra help
Funding can be used for equipment, training, salaries, contractors, and professional fees.
Eligible applicants include schools, colleges, charities, CICs, constituted groups, and local community organisations.

Devon Emergency Resilience Fund
Devon County Council is offering small grants through the Devon Emergency Resilience Fund to help communities prepare for emergencies like flooding. There are two funding schemes available:
- Scheme 1: Up to £250 to support the development of community emergency plans.
- Scheme 2: Up to £1,500 for small-scale works and equipment (e.g. sandbags, tools, signage) for communities with an emergency plan in place or nearing completion.
Eligible applicants include parish and town councils and constituted community groups, such as flood groups.

National Lottery Heritage Grants
The National Lottery Heritage Fund is offering grants from £10,000 to £250,000 to support projects that connect people and communities to the UK’s rich heritage—whether it's nature, historic buildings, cultural traditions, or community memories.
Eligible applicants include:
- Not-for-profit organisations
- Private owners of heritage assets
- Partnerships
Projects must:
- Focus clearly on heritage
- Align with four investment principles: saving heritage, protecting the environment, inclusion and access, and organisational sustainability
- Be well-planned and not yet started

New Allotment Site Fund
Grants are now available to help create new community-managed allotment sites across England. The New Allotment Site Fund offers up to £50,000 per acre to purchase land for allotments that promote environmental stewardship and community wellbeing.
Who can apply?
- Constituted not-for-profit organisations
- Individuals with a plan for community-led allotment management
Projects should focus on sustainability, inclusivity, and long-term community benefit.
